Just as 717 HP of max output looked like enough, Dodge and SRT gave birth to the Challenger Hellcat Redeye.

Nobody doubts the monster machine known as the Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat. Just as 717 HP of max output looked like enough, Dodge and SRT gave birth to the Challenger Hellcat Redeye.

But if Hennessey Performance Engineering is to be asked, it would love to upgrade a SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye into a more monstrous machine. Hennessey even provided a glimpse of this road monstrosity via a YouTube video showing its 1,000-hp Challenger Hellcat Redeye in action.

This Hennessey-upgraded SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye tearing up the test track is simply an astonishing sight to behold. Of course, a factory Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye — sans any upgrades — remains very desirable as its ultra-potent supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V8 Hellcat mill can deliver 797 hp of peak output and 707 lb-ft of max torque.

The Hellcat Redeye was a more potent choice than a Challenger Hellcat. It can zoom from nil to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and finish a quarter-mile run in just 10.8 seconds. But then, it would lose to true king of factory Challengers -- the SRT Challenger Super Stock. This new king simply holds the throne with its awesome power, and its name indicates, it is all stock.

While it has the same supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V8 Hellcat engine as the Redeye, the Super Stock features a recalibrated version that delivers 807 HP of max output. But the upgrades do not stop, there as the Super Stock also features a final drive ratio of 3.09, high-performance suspension, and drag radial tires. As a result, it can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.25 seconds and reach the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds.

Hennessey, however, tweaked the Hellcat Redeye to the point that it can leave a Super Stock in the dust. Hennessey installed lower and upper pulley upgrades, ported supercharger snout and stainless-steel long tube headers as well as high-flow catalytic converters, mid pipes, fuel injectors and air induction system. With the HPE1000 upgrade, the Hellcat Redeye now offers 1,035 hp of max output and 948 lb-ft of peak torque.

After upgrading another Hellcat Redeye, Hennessey brought this 1,000-hp monster to the Pennzoil Proving Ground for a test drive. Its quick and fast runs are something to behold, while roaring sound from its upgraded mill is just music to the ears. Make sure to turn on the audio while watching the video.
